International Council for Canadian Studies Awards Reception - June 11, 2016

Two ACSUS nominees were successful in this year's ICCS awards competition.  First, Myrna Delson-Karan was given an ICCS Certificate of Merit in recognition of her many distinguished contributions to the Canadian and Quebec Studies communities over the years.  In addition, the Pierre Savard Award for the best book published in English of French went to ACSUS nominee Elizabeth Goodyear-Grant of Queen's University, Kingston, ON, for her UBC Press book entited Gendered News: Media Coverage and Electoral Politics in Canada (2014).  ACSUS President Munroe Eagles was on hand to make these

Lindsay Marshall wins ACSUS-Enders Graduate Fellowship for 2016

It is a pleasure to announce that Ms. Lindsay Marshall, a PhD candidate in English at the University of Illinois at Chicago has been awarded the ACSUS-Enders Graduate Fellowship in Canada-US Relations to support her proposed research entitled "Recovering Rhetoric: Addiction and Rehabilitation at the Limits of Disease Discourse."  With the support of the fellowship, Ms.

Alberta Premier Rachel Notley Gives Lecture on Her Government's Plans for Leadership in Climate Change

 

On Thursday, April 28th, 2016, Alberta NDP Premier Rachel Notley gave a public lecture on Alberta's Climate Leadership Plan at the School of International Studies, Johns Hopkins University, in Washington DC. Her lecture was sponsored by the Thomas O. and Gaetana Enders Foundation and was organized by Dr. Christopher Sands of Johns Hopkins.

ACSUS 24th Biennial Conference - HOLD THE DATES!

 Please mark your calendars!  The 24th Biennial ACSUS conference will be held Wednesday, October 18th through Saturday, October 21st, 2017

The conference will be held once more at the Tuscany Suites and Casino in Las Vegas, NV.  After careful consideration, the relatively low cost of rooms, the almost unparalleled accessibility of Las Vegas, and the high level of satisfaction expressed by participants in the 23rd Biennial, all encouraged the Executive Council to decide to break with tradition and return to the Tuscany. 

Russian Association of Canadian Studies Conference Call for Proposals


The Russian Association for Canadian Studies (RACS) is holding its 25th anniversary conference with the theme of "Canada and Russia: Economics, Politics, Multiculturalism" on October 6-8, 2016.  The issues dedicated to Russian-Canadian cooperation in the Arctic will be included.  The conference will be held in the Conference Hall of the Institute of the USA and Canada in Moscow.  The call for proposals is attached below.
